Weight Loss Requires Great Food Nutrition

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 by admin

Losing weight is not impossible, it just requires a little change in your daily habits and lifestyle. You can’t lose weight while at the same time eating pastries, cookies, cakes, and other fattening and high sugar foods all the time. You need to have good food nutrition knowledge. Learning which foods will enable you to lose weight and which ones should be left alone is important. That’s not to say that you can’t cheat or splurge every once in a while. The occasional break from your diet or little treat here and there is great for your mental outlook and can boost your metabolism. Don’t allow yourself to feel deprived all the time by being to strict and structured, or you will end up cheating and ruining any progress you made beforehand.

What To Eat

Nutritional foods to include in your daily diet include high protein choices like lean meats, low fat dairy, and of course fruits and vegetables. If you get most of your food nutrition from these sources, and include a little regular exercise, you’ll soon see that fat melt off of you. Proper food nutrition is something you must learn with time. If you understand what you should and shouldn’t be eating then you can make better choices whether eating at home, a restaurant, or buying food at the store.

Daily Activity

In order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you take in. Food nutrition provides your body with calories, which is the fuel it uses to run. Your car runs off gasoline, and your body runs off your food nutrition choices. When you eat fattening and high sugar foods, you risk giving your body too much fuel, which can easily be converted to fat if it’s not burned off. Burning off the excess calories is why you need to exercise. Walking for a half hour or more most days of the week will result in a healthy pound or two weight loss per week.

A Gradual Process

You must remember that it doesn’t happen overnight, it is a gradual progression. It took time to put on the weight so it will also take time to get it off. Take a deep breath and spend your time exercising and eating the best food nutrition available to you. That weight will come off as long as you make good food choices, get some activity and you remain consistent. If you want the weight to come off healthfully, this is key.

How A Cleansing Diet Can Keep You Healthy

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 by admin

living raw

In the last couple years you most likely have heard about the importance of detoxifying your system or trying a cleansing diet. There really are solid reasons for this attention because using a diet detox program to clean your system out will improve your chances of enjoying good health, restored vitality and an increase in energy.

It is a fact that your body gets “cluttered” with a buildup of toxins and other assorted elements that need to be flushed from your system, especially in the Untied States where the standard American diet is less than optimal. A cleansing dietary plan does just that and gives your body the opportunity to release contaminants, toxins and the build up of digested “left overs” that can collect in your organs.

There are many different types of cleansing diet programs from which to choose. Some of these diet detox approaches simply focus on changing the basics of your diet. One such program recommends eliminating all “whites” from your eating plan. This means no more white flour, white rice, white pastas, or white sugar because of how they are processed.

There is also a diet which some consider to be too intense and a bit over the top, called the “master cleanse” or the “lemonade diet.” This is essentially one type of raw food detox that uses a concoction of lemons, raw maple syrup, cayenne, and herbal formulas supplementation.

For a less intense, and perhaps more gentle approach, there are many options that utilize herbal formulas. There are various herbs that can facilitate the release of toxins and support healthy system functions in the body, and are said to be very beneficial when attempting to detoxify. Many of these herbal formulations are also combined with fiber that helps to cleanse the bowels as well.

Any good cleansing diet will serve to get the “gunk” and build up moved out of the bowels. Often, there are years and years of collected waste which becomes stuck to the lining of the bowels. This interferes with the absorption of nutrients and overall reduces the effectiveness of your whole digestive system.

In addition, many people have a considerable number of extra pounds actually stored and collected in their bowels. Following a cleansing diet that is high in fiber can help to move the old build-up out. This reduces weight, clears out toxins and simply helps your body to function more efficiently.

Another approach is the raw food detox plan. This is simply an approach of eating raw food exclusively for a period of time. Raw foods, because they tend to be very high in fiber, can also help to clean out the bowels and because the enzymes, vitamins and minerals in these foods are not destroyed by cooking, your body is supplied with nutritional cleansing agents that are very powerful and completely natural.

An interesting thing happens to many people while adhering to a cleansing diet that is centered on living raw foods. They find that they have less of a sweet tooth and more of an appetite for those live foods that taste so wonderful. It is a well-accepted fact that most Americans do not get enough fruits and vegetables in their standard diet, so this side effect of a raw food detox is seen as a significant additional benefit.

Useful Tips When Considering A Cleansing Diet

diet detox

If you have even glanced at any kind of health or fitness magazine or website within the last couple years, then you have no doubt seen numerous references to various cleansing and detoxifying programs. There is good reason for cleansing diet programs and detox diets to be in the news and media so much. They are simply beneficial to the body and can improve energy, health and vitality.

It is a fact that your body gets “cluttered” with a buildup of toxins and other assorted elements that need to be flushed from your system, especially in the Untied States where the standard American diet is less than optimal. There are a number of approaches to doing a cleansing diet. There is also a diet which some consider to be too intense and a bit over the top, called the “master cleanse” or the “lemonade diet.” This is essentially one type of raw food detox that uses a concoction of lemons, raw maple syrup, cayenne, and herbal formulas supplementation.

Is Animal Consumption Really Good for You?

Thursday, March 26th, 2009 by admin

I’ve had vegetarian diet for over four years now. Often people ask why and at this point, I’m really not sure which answer to give. I do remember the reason that flipped the switch for me though. It was: If humans didn’t consume animals, and all of the grain grown (that is used to feed the animals) were properly distributed, there would be no hunger on Earth. I pretty quickly decided I’d rather be part of the solution than the problem, so that did it for me.

But since that time, I’ve learned a lot about eating animals that is pretty astounding. Do you know that many animals used for consumption these days have cancers and tumors? They just cut around them. In addition, most animals are on antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs, and many animals these days are so diseased that they can’t even walk - but they are still used for consumption. Do you really think that putting drugged and diseased animals in your body is healthy? (By the way, if you want to remove the chemicals and general toxicity that eating animals adds, you should think about deeply cleansing your body…)

Now they’ve started genetically modifying the animals used consumption, which is just wrong. When they first started doing genetic experiments with foods in the early 90’s, the scientists and biotech companies didn’t even know that each gene controls several different functions - so the outcome were and are totally unpredictable. Now they know this, but it hasn’t stopped them from genetically altering things, including many of the foods you likely already consuming, and now animals. Funny thing is, not only are they legal, but they’re also unlabeled. A rather extreme version of buyer beware…

In addition, if you care about the world we live in, you should know that it takes approximately one thousand gallons of water to raise just one pound of beef. And they are also cutting down rainforests (the lungs of the planet) to make room for cattle grazing to feed first world counties.

But there’s another angle that you might not be familiar with. We all have energy, called consciousness.  And so do animals. Now, different people’s energy can be dramatically different. It depends on a number of things including: how they think, how they act, are they and their actions fear-based or love-based, and so on. But consciousness, or this energy, also comes from what we put into our bodies.

And just to be clear, World War II prisoners may have been better treated than most animals used for consumption are today. You know your dog, cat, bird (or whatever animal you have) has feelings, so why would you assume that other animals - ones used for consumption - don’t?

These animals have been miserably treated, and then murdered. So, what kind of energy do you think these animals will have? Do you think it might be happy and joyous energy? Or do you think it’s more likely to be fear and sadness? If you had to choose, which would you pick?

Now that you’ve chosen, do you think this energy is something you want to be putting in your body?

I’m just asking because in a world where some large percentage of the population feels the need to take drugs for depression, and you can’t open a newspaper or get on the Internet without reading about a war, rape, maim, or murder somewhere, I just think we might want to look at common practices that might be contributing to the human condition. What do you think?

Now, if I were you and reading this article, I’d pretty quickly decide that eating animals was no longer for me. But perhaps you’re not there yet, but do want to make some changes. Excellent. What can you do?

For starters, you should know that just one serving of meat per week meets the protein requirements of human beings, so you can likely start by decreasing your intake considerably. Try having only one or two servings a week, and preferably fish only.

You might also want to get familiar with beans and nuts, which are fabulous sources of protein. And six to seven cups of beans each week also meets the protein requirements of human beings.

To fully enjoy your meals, you might need to learn a few new food prep techniques, which isn’t too much to ask. Perhaps you’ll also want ask your favorite restaurants to carry some hearty meat-free options as well; you’d be surprised what they’ll do if you ask the right person. While these change may seem big in the beginning, once you’re on all a roll, you’ll see there’s nothing to it. Chances are you won’t miss a thing.

Which Of These Drinks Would You Choose?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 by admin

Only water??  You must be kidding.  We are the generation that thinks only water is boring.  This has spond the million dollar industry of flavored water or sport water with added vitamins.Or you can buy natural mixers to add to your own bottled water.  Flavored water encourages people to drink more water.  But aren’t we becoming a little spoiled here?

In contrast to enhanced or vitamin waters flavored waters are just that, flavor and water and a sweetener if you must. We have divided the flavored waters into two subsets: unsweetened and sweetened with various natural or artificial sweeteners.

Currently on the market are unsweetened bottled water, this is water with just a hint of a flavor to make the water not so boring.  Then there are the sweetened bottled water sweetened with sucralose or carbonated sweetened bottled water.  Many are on the market claiming zero calories.  A large assortment of calorie free flavors to flavor sparkling water to great taste is sold at http://allfreightfree.com.

Before you throw out your regular vitamins, you might want to read the label on one of these vitamin drinks very carefully. Take Glacéau Vitaminwater Essential Orange Carrot. The label claims that it packs a “megadose of vitamins and minerals from A all the way through zinc.” A closer look reveals that the $1.49 bottle delivers 100 calories but only between 2 percent and 50 percent of the daily value of 12 vitamins and minerals. Essentials, including folic acid and vitamin D and Bi, are missing, too.

Oxygenated water (also known as “superoxygenated” water) is offered at hundreds of Web sites and from many companies representing multiple brands. Oxygenated water is highly recommended it if you happen to be a trout or salmon and you have gills to breathe.  If you have lungs to breathe, forget about it!

All  water that has been exposed to the air is “oxygenated” to a small extent– about 8 milligrams of O2 per liter of water at room temperature– and this can be increased by pressurizing the water with oxygen gas; each additional atmosphere of oxygen pressure pumps an additional 40 mg into each liter. See what happens after opening the bottle? That is true, that extra oxygen goes right back out— but not at once, thus by drinking oxygenated water, you can take in some more oxygen. But can any oxygen molecules that don’t get burped back out actually find their way into your bloodstream through absorption in the stomach or intestine?

The (ACE) American Council on Exercise, an America’s nonprofit fitness advocate, proclaimed the results of an ACE commissioned research of super oxygenated waters that promise higher energy, greater mental awareness and concentration and more energy to the athletes who are willing for a competitive edge or anyone who wish to be healthy in real sense.During the study the claims were tested and also compared the physical performance and effects of several oxygenated water products to the regular tap water.

Researchers found that drinking super oxygenated water had no measurable effect on the subjects’ resting heart rate, blood pressure or blood lactate values. The results were not surprising to researchers. Porcari said that, there are two possible ways to carry the oxygen into the blood, either bound to hemoglobin or dissolved in the plasma. “In normal healthy exercisers, hemoglobin is already 97 to 98 percent saturated with oxygen. Obviously, there is very little room to improve on this factor.”

“At this time, there is no scientific evidence or logical rationale to suggest that drinking super oxygenated water can in any way increase the amount of oxygen in the blood stream,” said Porcari. “Therefore, any potential benefits of super oxygenated water would undoubtedly be attributed to the placebo effect.”

Researchers conducted a dissolved oxygen analysis on three bottles of Aqua Rush and three bottles of SerVenRich. After the research it is revealed that the oxygenated waters contained three times less amount of oxygen that is found in tap water-markedly lower than what is said in the advertisement.

The study results confirm ACE’s opinion that these types of products do not live up to their claims, but water is one of the most essential components of the human body. The American Council on Exercise has always and continues to promote healthy hydration. Water regulates the body’s temperature, cushions and protects vital organs, and aids the digestive system.  And you can get that from just plain water!
